Lake Gregory

The Pallotine Mission at Balgo imported horses from Victoria. Father Patrick McGuire brought up 3 stallions Basin Street (Thoroughbred), Grey Ghost (Arabian), and Palm Boy (Thoroughbred).

Arabian mares were also taken to Balgo and when the mission closed, horses were released and roamed north to Lake Gregory. A mix of Arabians and Thoroughbreds live around the lake, many were culled in 2013.

Sheik Hamdan bin Rashid al Maktoum took 13 of these amazing horses to Dubai for Endurance Racing.
