Kalumburu & Theda Offspring
Kalumburu was the third large mission in the Kimberley where Arabian horses were bred. Summer Safari the Arabian stallion went there from Queensland University to be bred with Crabbett Arabian mares sent north from the New Norcia Pallotine headquarters near Perth.
Father Sanz at Kalumburu, like Father McGuire at Balgo, was a horse lover and his horses also became well known in the Kimberley.
Later some Quarter horses were introduced.
When the mission closed many wandered south on to Theda station. Wild Horses Kimberley Inc. adopted 13 of the Theda horses in 2007. Seven were rehomed near Perth.
